100 POINTS PROJECT PLEASE HELP... I WILL GIVE YOU BRAINLIEST. For this assignment, you will read an op-ed piece and write a response using original research to either
defend or challenge the author’s claims. (Below the op-ed is attached)
You will be documenting your sources in a graphic organizer and keeping track of how you applied the
reading strategies when conducting your research. You will also be documenting and describing the ways
the sources may have caused you to reflect on and adjust your choice to defend or challenge the author’s
claim.
You will write your own opinion piece that either defends or challenges the author’s claim, using your
outside sources as evidence. Then, you will provide your own original commentary to tie your evidence to
your claims.
Assignment Instructions
For this project, you are expected to submit two things.
1. Your graphic organizer with sources
2. Your written response to the op-ed
Step 1: Prepare for the project.
a) Read through the guide before you begin so you know the expectations for this project.
b) If anything is unclear, be sure to ask your teacher.
Step 2: Read the op-ed article, “The Downside of School Volunteer Requirements,” by Lily Lou.
a) Use all the close reading strategies you have learned so far.
b) Annotate and/or take notes on the article.
c) Decide if you will defend or challenge Lou’s claim.
Answer:
Based on the op-ed article by Lily Lou titled "The Downside of School Volunteer Requirements," it is clear that the author challenges the notion that volunteer requirements for high school graduation are beneficial. Lou argues that volunteer requirements are not an effective way to promote community service because they generate uninspired volunteers who are only interested in fulfilling requirements rather than making a meaningful contribution to their communities. Additionally, Lou contends that volunteer requirements can lead to stress and bias against low-income students, and they may also encourage students to pursue low-effort volunteer opportunities that do not make a significant impact in their communities.
To defend or challenge Lou's claims, it is important to conduct original research to support your argument. For example, if you were to defend Lou's claims, you could provide evidence that shows how volunteer requirements may lead to a reduction in long-term volunteering. Alternatively, if you were to challenge Lou's claims, you could provide evidence that suggests that volunteer requirements do have a positive impact on communities and that they encourage students to be more engaged citizens.
When conducting your research, it is important to use close reading strategies to carefully evaluate your sources and ensure that they are reliable and relevant to the topic at hand. Additionally, you should document your sources in a graphic organizer to help you organize your research and make connections between different pieces of evidence.
Once you have conducted your research, you should use your evidence to write a response to the op-ed article. Your response should either defend or challenge Lou's claims, and it should include original commentary that ties your evidence to your claims. Your commentary should demonstrate your understanding of the research you conducted and your ability to think critically about the topic. Finally, you should make sure to cite your sources properly to avoid plagiarism and give credit to the authors whose work you used to support your argument.
Write one to two sentences explaining how a difference between Moshe and the woman affects the plot in Two Violins
The difference between Moshe and the woman in "Two Violins" affects the plot by creating tension and conflict between the characters.
In "Two Violins," Moshe and the woman have contrasting perspectives and goals, which significantly impacts the plot. Moshe, a talented violinist, is determined to win the prestigious music competition and fulfill his lifelong dream. He practices diligently, sacrificing his personal life and relationships for his passion.
On the other hand, the woman, who also plays the violin, believes that music should be shared freely and used as a means to connect with others emotionally. She values the joy and unity that music brings, rather than focusing solely on individual success or recognition.
Their differing viewpoints lead to clashes and disagreements throughout the story. Moshe's relentless pursuit of perfection and victory often isolates him from those around him, including the woman. He becomes consumed by his own ambitions, neglecting the potential for collaboration and shared experiences. In contrast, the woman seeks to find harmony and meaning in music through collaboration and community engagement.
The clash between Moshe and the woman introduces a central conflict that drives the plot forward. It highlights the broader theme of the purpose of art and the divergent paths artists can take. As the story unfolds, their conflicting ideologies create tension, forcing both characters to confront their own beliefs and make choices that will ultimately shape their futures.

Do you agree or disagree with the way women were portrayed during Shakespeare’s time? Explain your answer 4-5 sentences.(I need an answer for disagree)
The text:
The tradition of men portraying women on public stages dates back to the theater of the Ancient Greeks, and is present in several other theatrical traditions from around the world. The reasons for the development of these traditions, which were to endure to various degrees for thousands of years, are intricately connected to how concepts of gender and sex were understood, and specifically the role of women in society. Ancient Greek women, like many women of Shakespeare’s England, did not have the right to vote or own property, and were expected to remain at home and rear children.
Many of these same concepts were to form the core of 17th century English gender dynamics. During the time of Shakespeare and the reigns of Queen Elizabeth I and King James I, English ideas of sex and gender, the legal rights of women and the social expectations of femininity all played a significant role in the way that theater was performed, the stories it told and who told them. In addition to other legal restrictions on the rights of women, there was considerable social pressure on women to behave according to specific social roles. Women were expected to be subservient, quiet and homebound, with their primary ambitions entirely confined to marriage, childbirth and homemaking; granted, social status and economic class played into what degree these expectations manifested, with the chief example being Queen Elizabeth I herself.
Acting was, in some ways, the exact opposite of those expectations, and female actors were associated with sexual incontinence, prostitution, lasciviousness and indecency. Though there is evidence that women acted in street performances, and in other notorious venues, all commercial acting companies of the time were made up entirely of men and it was illegal for women to act on stage professionally until 1661. Despite the profession of acting having a less than virtuous reputation, as well as a growing orthodox Christian objection to the theater, these all-male companies were deemed as socially legitimate because they did not threaten gender hierarchy. Only the idea of women was portrayed and embodied on stage, and not the reality. These professional companies were often financed by royal patronage, for example, The King’s Players.
In Shakespeare’s time, women were frequently cast in masculine roles. Playing crazy characters and reversing gender norms did not earn these women a respectable reputation.
What do you mean by Tradition? The culture of the time defined and constrained theatre during the Renaissance. Directors were forced to conform to somewhat radical values, and even the casting of roles suffered as a result.
Women had few options in many important life decisions during Shakespeare's time. People believed that girls should follow their fathers' rules and that after marriage, a woman became financially dependent on her husband by law. The ideal 'perfect wife' was someone who was both charming and obedient.
Therefore, I did not agree with the way women were portrayed during Shakespeare’s time.

Write a compare-and-contrast analysis of how Greg Ridley from "The Treasure of Lemon Brown" changes from the beginning of the story to the end.
I don't want a whole essay just tell me what to do.
Answer:
Just read the book and find things that contrast or change within the book
Explanation:
Answer:
In the beginning of the short story “The Treasure of Lemon Brown,” Greg Ridley was just a normal boy who wasn’t performing well at school, and feared being lectured by his father.
Greg didn’t want to face another lecture from his father about his grades, so he instead took a stroll outside, away from his apartment. Along the way, he found an old abandoned tenement and met a homeless person in rags named Lemon Brown. After Greg and Lemon get acquainted, they get attacked by thugs who want to steal Lemon’s treasure. After this major event, Lemon tells Greg about the story of his treasure and his son. He talks about how he used to sing the blues to feed his family. Then one day his wife died and his son went to go live with his wife's sister. He then says that his son went to war and then died holding a mouth fiddle. The fact that it meant something to his son made it Lemon’s treasure.
The thugs and the story of Lemon Brown moved Greg Ridley and made him realize the importance of his father and the love of family. While Greg walked back home, the idea of getting lectured by his father made him smile now.

Circe is described as 'that formidable goddess with a woman's voice'.
Why do you think this expression is used?
Circe is described as 'that formidable goddess with a woman's voice. The main reason why I think this expression is used is to emphasize her feminity and sexuality.
This is because Circe was a goddess in the epic poem, Odyssey who harbored King Odyssey and his men after the god, Poseidon had sent them a terrible storm.
She tried to seduce Odysseus and succeeded, keeping him and his men with her for many years and the above description lends credence to her feminity and sexuality.

Cases like the Wild Boy of Aveyron cause us to wonder whether language ability is due more to heredity or environment.
Heredity refers to the genetic factors inherited from our parents, while environment encompasses the external factors and experiences that shape our development. In the case of the Wild Boy of Aveyron, his lack of exposure to language during his formative years led to significant challenges in acquiring it later in life. This highlights the importance of environmental factors in the development of language abilities.
On the other hand, research on language acquisition in children supports the idea that there is an innate capacity for learning language, which is influenced by heredity. This suggests that language ability is not solely dependent on environmental factors.
In conclusion, the Wild Boy of Aveyron case highlights the complex interplay between heredity and environment in language development. While our genetic makeup may provide us with an innate capacity for language acquisition, environmental factors, such as exposure to language during critical developmental periods, play a crucial role in shaping our language abilities.
