Write: Why does the speaker feel that he could be more effective than famous education reformers?
The text:
When I actually did make it to college, I told my friend Brennan how our teachers would always ask us to raise our hands if we were going to college. I was taken aback when Brennan said, “Karim, I’ve never been asked that question before.” It was always, “What college are you going to?” Just the way that question is phrased made it unacceptable for him not to have gone to college.
Nowadays I get asked a different question. “How were you able to make it out?” For years I said I was lucky, but it’s not just luck. When my older brother and I graduated from high school at the very same time and he later dropped out of a two-year college, I wanted to understand why he dropped out and I kept studying. It wasn’t until I got to Cornell as a Presidential Research Scholar that I started to learn about the very real educational consequences of being raised by a single mother on government aid and attending the schools that I did. That’s when my older brother’s trajectory began to make complete sense to me.
I also learned that our most admirable education reformers, people like Arne Duncan, the former US Secretary of Education, or Wendy Kopp, the founder of Teach For America, had never attended an inner city public school like I had. So much of our education reform is driven by a sympathetic approach, where people are saying, “Let’s go and help these poor inner city kids, or these poor black and Latino kids,” instead of an empathetic approach, where someone like me, who had grown up in this environment, could say, “I know the adversities that you’re facing and I want to help you overcome them.”

What are some types of line, and what are their purposes? (site 1)?
Answer:Horizontal Lines.
Vertical Lines.
Parallel Lines.
Perpendicular Lines.
Explanation:
are a continuous line that defines the outline of a shape. They can exist outside and inside a shape, or a figure and are often referred to as line art.
Some artists create contour lines by using the same width line, while others change the width to give more energy and volume suggestions.
Parallel or cross-hatching lines are used to create texture, volume, shading or patterns.
They are often used as one at a time and are very effective during sketching. The more lines there are close together, the darker the area seems, creating a shadow.
Gesture lines are quick continuous lines often used to represent human form and movement, thus gesture drawing.
Gesture drawing (link to gesture drawing tips you don’t want to miss!) is often a warm-up session of 30 seconds – 5 minutes, which supports the energetic, quick and in-motion lines type.
Implied lines are lines that aren’t physically present, but generated by our minds based on other subjects.
They are a very powerful tool in art and design, as they guide the viewer’s eyes right where artist wants them to go.
The continuous line is when a drawing is done at one go without ever lifting it from the page.
This type of art ends up being very expressive and energetic if done right, if done not-so-well it can simply end up looking messy.
There are at least 3 types of line in art, the horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines. Each line has its own purpose in the masterpiece. Horizontal lines show calmness in the image. Vertical lines express alert attention while the diagonal lines provide action. If we combine the horizontal line and vertical line it shows strength and permanence of an image.

Look at The Flagellation of Christ by Piero della Francesca. This painting uses:
The painting "The Flagellation of Christ" by Piero della Francesca incorporates the technique of Option A. linear perspective.
Linear perspective is a method used in art to create the illusion of depth and three-dimensionality on a two-dimensional surface. In this painting, Piero della Francesca employs the technique by using converging lines that recede into the distance, giving the viewer a sense of spatial depth.
However, this painting does not utilize a God's-eye view, which refers to a perspective that simulates an elevated position looking down on a scene. Instead, the viewer is positioned at eye level, engaging with the figures in the painting from a more human perspective.
Additionally, "The Flagellation of Christ" does not employ sfumato, which is a technique developed by Leonardo da Vinci that involves the use of subtle, gradual transitions between tones and colors to create a soft, hazy effect. The painting by Piero della Francesca has distinct, crisp details and defined forms.
Lastly, there is no trompe l'oeil illusion in this painting. Trompe l'oeil refers to a technique that aims to deceive the viewer by creating realistic illusions. "The Flagellation of Christ" does not attempt to deceive the viewer but rather presents a straightforward depiction of the scene.
In conclusion, "The Flagellation of Christ" by Piero della Francesca employs linear perspective to create depth, but does not incorporate a God's-eye view, sfumato, or trompe l'oeil illusion. Therefore the correct option is A
