, seated woman's back. Name the work of art above and its artist. Which visual element of art did the artist rely on the most to create this piece ? Explain your answer.
In Les jockeys camoufles, he used blue-gray for "Pieton," orange for "Autres jockeys alcooliques," and emerald for the poem "Les jockeys mecaniques." Three of the poems by Pierre Reverdy are displayed alongside five pen drawings by Matisse.
Who is the writer of Les jockeys camoufles?French poet Pierre Reverdy (13 September 1889 – 17 June 1960) was strongly influenced by the controversial art movements of the time, Dadaism, Surrealism, and Cubism, and later created works that mirrored these movements. His poetry's themes of isolation and spiritual uneasiness chimed with the Surrealist ethos. He was independent of the prevailing "-isms," but he kept looking for something else.
Whether Henri Matisse worked as a painter, sculptor, printmaker, or draftsman, he was a master of colour. Even though he had classical instruction at the Académie Julian in Paris, he quickly rejected conventional techniques and genres in favour of developing a distinctive style characterised by quick, expressive strokes and flowing shapes.

Explain why being aware of biases is important to avoid making assumptions.
well here's an example if you have a crime and you call in the suspects best friend that isn't helpful at all because the best friend is bias and wants to make sure his friend aka the suspect doesn't go to jail so when you have a clear understanding of the bias information you can shut it down and you don't have to worry about any false news.
Write a caption to appear in a museum next to Vincent van Gogh’s Portrait of Dr. Gachet. In the caption, explain the mood the artwork through an examination of the elements of art, as well as the overall aesthetic value of the work.
Answer:
The portrait of Dr. Gachet is incredibly melancholic as a result of the scheme of colors van Gogh used. The blackness of the man's coat contrasts beautifully with the svelte, delicate foxgloves, a juxstaposition so incredible it is rarely if ever replicated in modern day art. The painting was painted shortly after van Gogh was discharged from a mental hospital, and the portrait indubitably reflects the incredible depression and melancholy van Gogh was feeling at the time. In fact, not long after this portrait was painted, van Gogh shot and killed himself.
Explanation:
Answer: Whenever anyone looks at the painting, they feel sadness and sorrow for the man. It's dark shades of blue really emphasize the feeling of sorrow and sadness. Besides wearing dark colors, the man has a crooked and arched posture, which implies that he is not happy with his situation. His facial expressions are also an indication that he is not in the best mood.
1 Explain what a Gettier case is and provide an example, either from the course or your own.
2 What is the argument for God's role in morality?
Have some mention of whether atheists can be moral, and relate the whole discussion to the Euthyphro Dilemma.
3 Compare and contrast the argument from design with an evolution-based perspective.
4 Explain the correspondence theory of truth and evaluate a criticism of it.
5 Contrast free will with determinism, with some mention of Strawson's argument.
6 Explain Descartes's reasons for doubting, and the reasons why he eventually comes to certainty.
7 Explain Anselm's proof for why God's existence is necessary.
8 Explain why justified true belief is not a good definition of 'knowledge'.
9 What would the pragmatist theory of truth say about the correspondence theory of truth?
10 What is the metaphysical status of number? I.e., do they exist and in what way?
1. The claims in Gettier's cases have tenuous justifications despite being genuine and widely accepted.
What can we infer about God's place in morality from the Euthyphro argument?Euthyphro asserts that what is holy is that which the gods approve of, but Socrates counters that since the gods frequently disagree, what one god approves of may not be approved of by all.
2. God's will determines morality. Either God commands X because X is morally right, or God commands X because X is morally right. If God commands something and it is morally right because God commands it, then God could have ordered anything else. Morality would be arbitrary if God could have given a different order.
3. An ID is merely an ideology that criticizes science and demands that its beliefs be recognized as fact, whereas evolution is a scientific theory that aims to explain how life on earth has changed over time.
4. According to the correspondence theory of truth in metaphysics and language philosophy, a statement's truth or falsity is only dependent on how it relates to the outside world and whether it accurately depicts (i.e., corresponds with) that world. Hegel's criticism is included, as well as a "correspondence" between belief and actuality.
5. While rejecting the idea of free will, Strawson is sympathetic to its delusion: "We are not really free and fully responsible actors at all, even if we cannot help but believe we are." Even though Strawson is often referred to as a "hard determinist," he contends that free will and moral responsibility cannot coexist with indeterminism.
6. René Descartes, the founder of Cartesian skepticism, cast doubt on all principles, notions, thoughts, and matter. Descartes asserts that we must first doubt everything we believe to be true in order to ascertain whether there is anything we can know for certain. Although Descartes does not imply that we should mistrust anything in particular, such a strong doubt could not seem fair.
7. According to Anselm, the idea of God is real, hence God must be real. Nothing can be imagined that is greater than the Supreme Being, thus it follows that it must also exist in actuality.
8. You must believe that p to know it, according to the tripartite definition of knowledge.
9. In contrast to correspondence theories, which tend to view truth as a static relationship between a truth-bearer and a truth-maker, pragmatic theories of truth tend to see truth as a function of the practices people engage in and the commitments people make when they solve problems, make claims, or conduct scientific inquiry.
10. The area of philosophy known as metaphysics examines the basic essence of reality, the fundamental concepts of existence, identity and change, space and time, causation, necessity, and possibility. Number and mathematical metaphysics take the stance that an object only exists if and only if it is a component of some mathematical system. To be is to be a mathematical object and a number is an abstract idea.

Finding similarities in works of art leads to their categorization by artist, period and/or region, known as style. True or false
Answer:
Explanation:

Scenario 1: John's great-great-grandfather made a fortune in the U.S. slave trade. That fortune was invested carefully, and it continued to grow as it passed from John's great-grandfather to his grandfather to his father and now to John. John now has great wealth, which is the result of careful investments of several generations of his family, but the original investment capital came from trading in slaves.
Scenario 2: During World War II the Nazi's stole priceless works of art. The owners of this art were often deported and exterminated in concentration camps. A grandson of the Nazi now has possession of the art.
In each of the two scenarios above, is the wealth legitimate?
If one of them is legitimate and the other not, why?
If both are legitimate, why?
If neither is legitimate, why and how would you remedy the current situation?
Answer:
Scenario 1: In this case, the wealth is derived from profits generated through the U.S. slave trade, which involved the inhumane and exploitative treatment of enslaved individuals. From an ethical standpoint, many consider the original source of the wealth to be illegitimate due to the immense suffering and injustice inflicted upon others. However, the subsequent generations of the family may argue that they are not directly responsible for the actions of their ancestors and that the wealth has been accumulated through legal means over time.
Scenario 2: The stolen artworks were acquired through the atrocities committed by the Nazis during World War II. The original owners were victims of persecution, and their rights were violated. From an ethical and legal perspective, the current possession of the artworks by the grandson of the Nazi does not make the wealth legitimate, as it is a product of theft, violence, and human rights abuses.
If both scenarios are deemed illegitimate, the remedy would involve acknowledging the historical injustices and taking appropriate steps to rectify the situation. This could include actions such as reparations, restitution, or returning the wealth to its rightful owners or their descendants. In the case of stolen artworks, efforts should be made to identify the rightful owners or their heirs and facilitate the return of the artworks to them.
However, addressing these issues is complex and requires a thorough understanding of historical context, legal frameworks, and the involvement of multiple stakeholders. It may involve legal proceedings, negotiations, and collaboration between governments, organizations, and affected parties to ensure a just resolution.
Ultimately, the determination of the legitimacy of wealth in these scenarios and the subsequent remedies should be guided by principles of justice, human rights, and the recognition of historical injustices.
